Voda signs mobile outsourcing deal with Oracle

08 February 2010 – Vodafone has secured a major enterprise win at Oracle to supply the corporate database giant with mobile voice and data services across the European, Middle East and Africa region. The four-year deal will cover over 16,000 Oracle employees, though financial terms were not disclosed. In a statement, Vodafone said that the deal would allow Oracle to make “significant savings as well as enhanced efficiencies” by using Vodafone Global Enterprise’s managed services platform.

The operator added that Oracle would also benefit from the enhanced transparency offered by predictable flat rate fee structures for mobility and managed services. The flat rate fee structures have been designed to ensure that managers are able to accurately predict expenditure. “As well as our revolutionary per user pricing model, Oracle will benefit from the tools and consultancy that we offer to improve efficiency in both their fixed and mobile communications,” said Nick Jeffery, CEO, Vodafone Global Enterprise. Vodafone’s enterprise division was established in April 2007 and claims to provide managed communications services to many of the world’s leading multinationals. Vodafone's shares rose 1 percent on news of the deal. ♠ JC
